  • Condition: Helmet shows normal wear for it's age. Leather and stitching still in good condition,all intact. Inner felt lining shows some moth damage(see photo). Front Emblem color good. Not polished or renewed. Size unknown.

    Cairns Brother's of New York all Leather Fire Helmet, aka:  "Leather Head". Circa 1920-30's?  Emblem reads Ronkonkoma,New York Hook & Ladder company #1. Was given to me when I was a boy by Eddie Metzler who was the Fire Chief in Ronkonkoma ,N.Y. in early 1950's, because I wanted to be a Fireman and hung out at the station all the time.
    Overall good condition for its age. leather and stitching all in good condition, inner felt liner with ear flaps shows some moth damage.
