This beautiful huge cigarette case was masterfully crafted by J. Gloster Ltd. of Birmingham, England around 1903  The piece features a detailed design with a center verse motif that says this PRESENTED TO BRO WILSON RENGE BY THE R.A.O.B DYFFRYN TAWE LODGE N 1449 PONTARDAWE AS A MARK OF STEEM THIS ON HIS LEAVING THIS DISTRICT  THOS LEWIS WP FEBRUARY 1913 An exceptionally fine fully hallmarked Edwardian solid silver cigarret case crafted by Joseph Gloster in 1903. This antique is embellished with bright-cut floral motifs and scroll work.
The directors of the firm and their employees worked hard to invent devices and manufacturing methods which would improve the durability of their products. By 1914 the firm employed approximately one hundred people. The silversmiths J. Gloster Ltd were highly regarded for both their sterling silver & silver plated items from the Victorian era until the 1960s. The company was founded in 1880. Their premises was situated at Lion Silver Works, Hockley Hill in Birmingham, England.  They were a British Industries Fair Listed Exhibitor in 1929.
