Presented is an antique c. 1900 sterling matchsafe by J.T. Inman.
I have never seen this beautiful design before.
The sterling silver body features simple scroll decoration only around the edges.
At the center of the front is an applied finely detailed full female nude in copper (which by now has a nice warm patina).
The front and back surfaces have a soft satin finish while the edges and scrolls are polished.
The interior is gilt.

Condition
Please note, the little tab or extension on the inside of the hinge has broken off (the bit that would enable it to “snap” shut).
The lid stays closed, it just lacks the snap.
I considered having it fixed but decided to leave it up to the next owner.
Otherwise, the safe is in very good condition with a few spots front & back (I didn’t want to clean it as I was afraid to disturb the copper’s patina).
