Tagmoute egg is approximately 2.20” in width by 3.5” in length including the charms. This is a unique statement piece.

Tagmoute egg center dangling Moroccan coin charm measures approximately 1.75” by 1”. The two surrounding tarnished vintage old coins are approximately 1.20” in height.
The focal large tagmoute thagmoute taghmout enameled egg has green, orange and red intricate glass enamel details.
The orange quartzite beads measure approximately 14mm. The Venetian green glass beads measure approximately 12mm to 14mm and are irregular in shape.
There are 6 vintage swirl charm Moroccan ethnic coins measuring approximately 1.25” in height.
This necklace measures 22” in length plus the 3.5” of the tagmoute pendant with coins with a large Moroccan silver Bali style lobster closure clasp.

Tagmoute egg is a classic silver enamelled egg bead. These beads were used in necklaces and fibula chains by Berber ladies, the egg of course symbolises fertility and new birth. The yellow and green enamel is made from venetian glass trade beads and is characteristically somewhat rough in execution.
An old Berber silver metal and enamel egg bead (Tagmoute) sourced in Ida ou Semlal in the Western Anti Atlas in Southern Morocco. Among the Berber the egg is a symbol of fertility, as life comes from it. Hand made in the first half of the 20th century, with enameling in blue, yellow and red. This would typically be worn at the center of linked fibulae or on necklaces. The repeated eye design is believed to be a strong protective element for the wearer.
This is A huge Moroccan Taguemout enamel egg from Taroudant in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. These traditional enameled silver egg shaped beads are worn by women in Southern Morocco symbolizing fertility. As you might imagine they are difficult to make, what a laborious process with each strip of silver alloy applied separately, then the enamel worked in.
Berbers call themselves some variant of the word i-Mazigh-en (singular: a-Mazigh), possibly meaning "free people" or "noble men". The name probably had its ancient parallel in the Roman and Greek names for Berbers, Mazices.
