Vintage 1950s Walberg and Auge Slingerland Gretsch Drum Throne Stool Display Fix

This is what I am assuming is a vintage Walberg and Auge drum throne from the 1950’s.
I will let the photos speak for themselves.
At this point the stool is in unusable condition due to the metal stem being split where the seat post insert is (see photos).
Overall the metal is very worn, heavily patinated and appears to be nickel plated. The fabric covered seat cushion is in relatively good shape for its age with no rips, excessive wear or stains.
If someone is handy with welding perhaps it can be repaired and used again otherwise it could be used for display or a prop.
