Vintage Cairns & Bros. 500 H/505 M Solid Top 1940 or 1941 Leather Fire Helmet.  Appears that the leather front is a replacement. Appears helmet has been repainted in the past. Missing inside of helmet dome Cairns identifier.  This helmet is sometimes called a War-Baby though the War Baby helmets came later in the 1940's. Helmet size is a 7 or 71/4.  It does have some wear and tear as seen in photos.
It was verbally reported to me, that this helmet belonged to the Middlesex. N.J. Fire Department
, however I have no written proof
Very good condition- front leather shield is not original to the helmet - helmet was used for parades while driving antique fire truck
