They are said to be everything from the creators of the universe to the givers of the alphabet to man. They are associated often with the number 9 and are said to be the keepers of the internal plan of creation. The spider is considered to be associated with the Earth element. Several American Indian tribes tell the story of Grandmother Spider. She is said to have spun the web of life and that all living creatures, beasts, and humans are interconnected through her web. Every life touches another via the intricate, complicated, interwoven threads. The spiders web is also said to contain messages to man. One folk lore story suggests that it was a spider’s web that gave the gift of the alphabet to humankind so that they could communicate with each other, all over the world, with the written word. There are also variations on this theme of messages being sent through the spider by use of the web. One only need understand how to read the web correctly in order to interpret the message trying to be conveyed. Many different names are given to the spider or it is connected with various god like traits. In India the spider is associated with Maya, the weaver of illusion. Greeks called the spider Neith and believed she was the “divine mother.” The Cherokee American Indians call the spider the “sacred weaver” and believe she spun the world into existence. The spider was also one of Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom’s, totem creatures, along with the Owl as she represented deep knowledge and understanding of life. To watch a Spider spin its web is a wonder to behold. They diligently work to create a masterpiece of nature that they seem too small to accomplish. The silk of a spider is said to be stronger than a strand of steel of the same diameter. Their webs provide a means of catching the prey for their sustenance. It really is a marvelous work of art and nature. The spider creates her web and then goes about her business, when she returns she has a host of tasty insect meals to choose from. She wraps them up in her silken thread and preserves them for when she needs to nourish herself. Spiders are solitary creatures and their web patterns will vary by species. The Spider possesses many virtues that are powerful and valuable and which any person would be wise to emulate or divine. One who has chosen the totem of the Spider will see enhanced balance, creative energy, and writing skills. The Creative Spider Totem possesses the following virtues: Balance, nurturing, energy, solidarity, intuition, inspired abilities, writing abilities, enhanced communication, wisdom, patience, fortitude, faith, ingenuity and divine knowledge and power. An unpaid item dispute will be filed and closed within eight days of initial filing as we have no time to waste or patience to deal with non-paying bidders. When purchasing more than one item, please wait for, or request a combined invoice before you pay or your discount will not be applied as all items must be paid for at one time and only items purchased within four days of each other qualify for shipping discount. If you pay invoices separately, no refund will be made and your items will be shipped together regardless. We are honest, reliable eBay sellers and we treat our clients with respect and integrity. We value your business and do our very best to make you happy and satisfy your needs and concerns so please respect our time and policies in return.

Please note that, in most cases, we offer two domestic shipping methods: First Class Mail (in a small padded envelope) and Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box. Be sure to evaluate the type of item you are purchasing to determine which method is the best choice to protect your item during shipping as the safety of your item is your responsibility once it leaves our care. For instance, if your piece has gemstones that could be knocked loose, you may want to consider using the safer choice of Priority Mail. If you purchase several items or if the weight of item is more than 13 oz., you must use the Priority Mail Flat Rate Box option which will be automatically calculated on your invoice.
Due to USPS rate increases we no longer require domestic postal insurance though it is an optional choice that we highly recommend as we cannot, and will not be held responsible for loss, theft or damage after your item has been shipped. We package our items very carefully, but in the unlikely event that your item should arrive broken or damaged, we will happily provide any relative information to assist in filing an insurance claim if you choose to purchase postal insurance, including tracking information. All insurance claims are the responsibility of the buyer. Insurance is not available for international packages and any loss or damage is the responsibility of the buyer. If you wish to purchase postal insurance, please email us with a request and we will send a revised invoice that includes the cost of insurance.
Please note that some of our items are vintage or estate pieces so they may or may not show some wear though we always include as accurate a description as possible. We do not distinguish between natural gemstones and simulated gemstones so please ask any questions that you may have before bidding!
